The Marvel Blouse
A week ago, Boston Globe columnist Shirley Leung wore our Marvel blouse for a media appearance, shared that her top featured newspaper articles about women’s suffrage, and gave us a social media shout-out: “Women Supporting Women. Women Following Women.” What happened then was a cascade of positivity…
… People purchased our Marvel & Jovita newsprint pieces (“I heard Shirley talking about this on Boston Public Radio and knew my wife who teaches Women’s History would love it!”; “A family member is researching her hometown suffragist, and I knew I had to get this for her.”
… Purchases turned into work for our NYC team of seamstresses (1 scarf = 1 hour of work; 1 blouse = 2.5 hours of work for a local worker)
… Those dollars sprung into action, going from their hands into rent, food, local restaurants and shops who wait eagerly for it, so they can send it out again
… and full-circle, when women share their photos and stories of how they feel wearing the Marvel blouse or Jovita scarf, it will kick off another cycle of good.
Thank you, Shirley, for reminding me of the capacity we each have to make a difference. There is such abundance in supporting each other. A kind gesture, an encouraging comment, a purchase with purpose all can produce a butterfly effect of impact. With the holidays upon us, every act has the potential to create a cascade of good.
